About

I used to write algorithms that traded stocks. One of the functions in the algorithms was called “rebalance_daily.” Its job was to check the portfolio every morning at a specified time to make sure it held the right stocks in the right amounts.

Basically, when the markets opened each day, it was this function’s responsibility to make the portfolio look itself in the mirror and ask, “Are you prepared to make a profit from all the trading that’s going to happen today?” And if not, it made the necessary adjustments.

This made me think: I ought to have a rebalance_daily function for my life. And so I started this blog.

Now I work for a tech startup in San Francisco. I like to think of this blog as an ongoing book of practical philosophy. My goal is to post here once a day, every day.

If this is your first time on the site, here is a good place to start. You can also check out what books I’m reading here and contact me here. Welcome and happy reading!
